The Salman Khan written film, Veer, goes on the floors soon. But even before the shoot begins, there’s some casting trouble.

Amitabh Bachchan, who heard a narration of the film some days ago and promised to think about it, has refused to be part of the project. As a result there is a desperate look for a replacement, which might cause a delay in the project.

Not with him!

A source says, “Director Anil Sharma had approached Amitabh Bachchan but he said no. Anil was very confident considering that they had worked together in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon in 2004.â€

[b]Anil Sharma taunts Amitabh Bachchan?

Salman Khan’s first film as a writer ‘Veer’ is to be directed by Anil Sharma. However, other than Salman the film was apparently also offered to Amitabh Bachchan but if rumours are to be believed the superstar rejected the offer since he wasn’t happy with Salman’s choice of the director!

Our sources revealed how Amitabh was unhappy with Anil Sharma in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon !

We spoke to Anil Sharma and the ‘Gadar’ filmmaker sounded extremely disappointed with the rumours surrounding his rapport with Bachchan.

“I haven’t spoken to Amitabh Bachchan as yet about the film! I don’t understand how media encourages these silly rumours to grow! Also even if Bachchan saab had rejected my film he would never doubt my ability as a filmmaker. He is too dignified a human being to do such a thing!â€

No Veer for Bhansali

Author: Tushar Joshi
Date: 19 Dec 2007

Salman first approached Sanjay Bhansali to direct Veer, but the director refused the offer.

DOST, DOST NA RAHA...: Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan
Whenever Sanjay Leela Bhansali has approached Salman Khan, the actor has acted in his films.

But after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Khamoshi and Saawariya, when Salman approached the director to direct Veer that has been penned by him, Bhansali turned down the offer.

Yeh kya hua...

Sources report that before finalising Anil Sharma, Salman had approached Bhansali with his period film Veer.

“Salman approached Bhansali as he felt he was the perfect candidate for a period film. The film needs the treatment that one sees in Bhansali’s films. The director is good at establishing grandeur and opulence on screen. However, after reading the script Bhansali politely refused." Apparently, Bhansali wasn’t convinced that the film would work and he decided not to be a part of it.

It was only after Bhansali said no, that Salman approached Anil Sharma (of Gadar fame). “Salman will start the film once he finishes Subhash Ghai’s Main Yuvraaj and Boney Kapoor’s Wanted Dead or Alive,â€

Bhansali says no to Salman?

23 Dec 2007, 0000 hrs IST

The buzz is that actor Salman Khan has penned the script of Veer, and that he had approached Sanjay Leela Bhansali to direct the period film.

But when Bhansali politely declined, Khan went on to rope in Anil Sharma to be the captain of the ship. However, a close friend of Bhansali’s states that he was never approached to direct Veer.

Bhansali and Salman are close friends and the filmmaker still maintains that he owes his career to Salman Khan, so much so that if Salman were to ever offer him a script to direct, he would accept to direct it immediately irrespective of whatever other commitments he may have.

Bhansali also believes in Salman, the scriptwriter. “If he’s Salim Sholay Khan’s son, writing must be in his genes,â€

Salman Becomes Salim
By Prathna Tiwari - BollySpice.com
3 Jan 2008
Like father like son. Salim Khan was one of the most famous writers of the '70s who wrote some outstanding scripts including classics like Sholay and Don. Now, its Salman's turn to step into his father's shoes.

Salman Khan has been in front of the camera for years, and many of us have grown up watching him on our screens. However, now the actor has decided to change gears and will go one step further with his filmi knowledge.

He will be listed in the credits of Anil Sharma's upcoming Veer not just as an actor, but also as the script writer. Anil Sharma (of Apne fame) has been working with the "controversial Khan" for the last three months. Three months ago, Salman finally revealed the idea of Veer to Anil Sharma and they both began to develop the script further. According to Anil Sharma, the movie will have a period epic feel that is set in the 1880s.

Veer will hit the screens on a much later notice since Salman still has God Tussi Great Ho to release and Anil Sharma has Master (starring the three Deols). The news of Salman turning script writer, however, has already created hype around this project.

2008 may well be the year when Khan gets his due respect. Kicking off with the prestigious unveiling of the wax statue followed by some of the most anticipated releases including Prabhu Deva's Wanted: Dead or Alive (remake of Telugu blockbuster Pokiri). Way to go Sallu!

[b] "Veer will show old Hindustani culture" - Anil Sharma Click here to add this article to My Clips
By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 7, 2008 - 17:06 IST
Bollywood actors are now getting into multi-tasking. Aamir got into direction with Taare Zameen Par. And now, Salman Khan dons the cap of a scriptwriter with the film, Veer.

“Veer is period film set in the 1800’s. It is not a historic film but the characters and the plot will talk of the olden Hindustani culture. Only Salman has been signed as the main lead for the film as of now, since the scripting is just over,â€
